News Release on April 15, 2013 - Union Savings Bank Celebrates 130 Years with Gift to Cancer Center
FREEPORT, Ill., April 15, 2013 — Union Savings Bank, one of the area’s oldest financial institutions, is celebrating 130 years of service to northern Illinois this year with a major commitment to the health of its communities. Union Savings Bank has donated $50,000 to the FHN Leonard C. Ferguson Cancer Center. “We are proud to be an independent bank with roots right here in Freeport,” said Union Savings Bank Chairman of the Board and CEO Thomas Huber. “We share a common goal with FHN and the Cancer Center – helping people grow and invest in their future. We consider this gift an investment in the future of the FHN Leonard C. Ferguson Cancer Center, and in the health of our communities.” The Cancer Center’s recent expansion brought leading-edge Volumetric Modulated ARC Therapy, featuring an Image Guided Radiation Therapy radiation machine and four-dimensional CT scanning, to Freeport. News Release on June 26, 2012 - UNION Savings BANK Announces Promotions
The board of directors of UNION Savings BANK is pleased to announce several promotions that were decided at the bank’s annual meeting.
Thomas A. Huber was selected to serve as the new chairman of the board and chief executive officer. Huber takes the place of outgoing Chairman Carl Zulke, who is retiring from the board of directors after fifty years of service to the bank. Zulke will continue to serve as a director emeritus. Huber has worked for UNION Savings BANK since 1973 and holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Finance from Northern Illinois University. Active in the community, Huber is currently a member of the Lincoln Douglas Kiwanis and the Northwest Illinois Development Alliance.
Richard D. Wolfe was promoted from executive vice president to bank president. Wolfe has worked for UNION Savings BANK in many capacities since 1978. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Finance from Northern Illinois University and is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin’s Graduate School of Banking. Active in the community, Wolfe is the vice president of the Freeport Noon Kiwanis, Chairman of the Northwestern Illinois Community Development Corporation and serves on the finance council at St. Thomas Church.
Dawn Elliott was promoted to the role of bank treasurer. Elliott is a graduate of Rockford College and holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting. In 2005, she attended the Stephenson County Leadership Institute. Active in the community, Elliott is a member of the Cedarville Lions Club and the Dakota Athletic Boosters.
Jody M. Cox was promoted to the role of marketing manager. Cox previously held the title of marketing coordinator. She attended Rockford College and has completed numerous banking and marketing classes to enhance her career. In the community, Cox is a current board member for CONTACT of Northern Illinois and also volunteers at Roy Gayle in Rockford, Illinois.
Nicholas A. Gill will assume the role of compliance officer in addition to his responsibilities as mortgage loan officer. Gill graduated from Illinois State University and has a Bachelor of Science degree in Finance. He holds the professional designation of Certified Community Bank Compliance Officer and attended the Stephenson County Leadership Institute in 2011.

As a longtime realtor, Debbie has a unique understanding of Belvidere and will bring a new perspective to our board.” stated Tom Huber, president of UNION Savings BANK. Debbie Carlson is currently a broker with Prudential Crosby Starck Realtors in Belvidere, Illinois and has been a real estate agent since 1989. Carlson has an Associate Degree in Business Administration from Rock Valley College and is a graduate of the Realtor Institute. Active in the community, Carlson is currently a trustee for Belvidere Township, board member for the Community Building Complex of Boone County and was previously a council member for the City of Belvidere.
